FINAL CONCEPT PLANS ARE NOW ON EXHIBITION!

Final concept landscape plans for your new 9ha Fernadell Park are now on exhibition.

Council has listened to community feedback on what they want to see at the park as part of the design process. The concept design incorporates this feedback and balances it with the opportunities and constraints at the site, as well as the available budget.

This Fernadell Park project will be delivered in stages, with early stages to include:

  • 2 large soccer fields
  • Sporting amenities facility
  • Community centre
  • Formalised carparking space

Remaining inclusions will be delivered in the future and as further funding becomes available.

The Fernadell Park Redevelopment will be funded through the NSW Government's Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program. The Program will see $2 billion worth of transformational infrastructure delivered across Western Sydney.

The application and other supporting documentation can be viewed during the exhibition period on Council’s online community engagement site www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au or between 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday at Council’s Administration Building, 366 George Street, Windsor. All submission must be made by 20 May 2024 at via this link or via email addressed to the General Manager at council@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au or mail addressed to the General Manager, PO Box 146, Windsor NSW 2756.

Should you lodge a submission, it will be considered, along with any other submissions received and may be included in Council’s meeting business paper. Your submission, including any personal information, is accessible by any person upon written application, subject to Council’s Privacy Management Plan and the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009. The inclusion of personal information in your submission is voluntary. The information will ultimately be stored in Council’s records system.

The inclusion of personal information with your submission is voluntary. However, if not provided Council will not be able to contact you about the proposal. The information will be stored in Council's electronic records system and paper files. For your protection, Council recommends that you do not include defamatory comments in your submission.

Under Section 10.4(5) of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, any person who makes a submission to Council is required to disclose any political donation or gift. Where relevant a Political Donation and Gift Disclosure Statement is to accompany any submission lodged with Council.     Residents are encouraged to have their say on revised plans for the transformation of Fernadell Park.

    These revised plans were created following a first round of community consultation in mid-2021. Feedback from the first exhibition was very positive and Council has listened carefully to community suggestions. Due to the importance of this project to the community, and the significance of the changes, Council has decided to reexhibit the plans for further feedback.

    These changes include:

    Drainage

    - Fill the northern channel and install underground drainage pipe to allow for greater use of the site.

    Sports Infrastructure

    - Multi-use courts relocated to the northern side of the park, closer to the sports amenities building and parking.

    - Multi-use courts will be for basketball/netball and will not be fenced

    - Cricket practice nets adjacent to the field and off street parking area added

    - Training field increased from 70x40m to 70x50m

    - Training field moved further north to avoid potential conflict with community building users

    Parking

    - off street parking at Bootles Lane increased from approximately 40 spaces to 93 spaces*

    - 90 degree parking on Bootles Lane reduced from approximately 65 spaces to 58 spaces*

    - 90 degree parking off Fernadell Drive increased from approximately 40 spaces to 42 spaces*

    * parking quantity subject to detailed design

    Passive recreation

    - Outdoor gym area, play space and youth space co-located

    - Play space adjacent to the picnic area and closer to public toilets at the community building

    - Sandstone viewing platform replaces the deck over the water body

    - Deletion of possible future structure over water body

    - Fenced dog off leash area divided into areas for small and large dogs

    The community can view the revised Masterplan and have their say below until Sunday 12 June 2022.

    Hawkesbury City Council is inviting community members to view and comment on Council’s Draft Plan of Management and Landscape Masterplan for Fernadell Park, Pitt Town, which will be on public exhibition from Thursday, 27 May 2021 until Thursday, 8 July 2021.

    The plans have been developed in consultation with the community and will guide how the park may be used, managed and developed in future.

    Development of these plans represents Council’s commitment to provide the Hawkesbury community with recreation facilities for all ages and activities. These plans will be guiding documents to ensure that any future development within the park will be consistent with the overall vision for the park. It is not anticipated that full development of the park will be completed in the short term. There will be four Stages to be developed over time as funding permits.
